Dearly, Departed (Gone With the Respiration, #1)

“She nodded and reached out to take my hand again. I turned to look at her fully, I didnt want to say it, but I felt I should. I'd never had a chance to say it to my sisters. to my mother and Id always regretted it. "Just in case", I said, Leaning down. For once the Laz remained respectful. It didnt want her. I wanted her.Knitting my fingers into her curls, I kissed her forehead. I limited myself to one word this time. "Goodbye".”

My Thoughts
A father’s love for his children is a strong bond, but what about a daughter’s love for her father?
Grace is one kick butt heroine and she has learned everything she knows about the forest from her father. Her skills in wilderness survival and tracking will be tested when her father comes up missing. How far will she go in order to save the one she loves?
Grace is one of my favorite heroines she doesn’t give up easily and I admire that. Her journey to save her father is full of some intense scenes and lots of action and mystery surrounding his disappearance. This story will linger in your mind long after it is over.
Along the way Grace meets a handsome and mysterious boy named Mo deepening the mystery. She increasingly intrigued by him, but as the secrets get more dangerous and she realizes she might be in over her head. It’s going to take everything she has for Grace to have any hope of saving not only her father, but everything she holds dear. Jump into a world filled with mystery, suspense, and a touch of romance in S.R. Johannes “Untraceable”.

Interview with Shelli Johannes author of Untraceable

By : Katie

Author Biography

Shelli Johannes-Wells started out writing for her local school paper, winning a state Nutrition essay contest for "Be a Smart Cookie", and singing in a local Jazz band. Somewhere along the way, she earned an MBA in Marketing and embarked on an 18-year marketing career in Corporate America working as a marketing and communications consultant.

In 2000, Shelli traded in her high heels and corporate lingo for a family, flip-flops, and a love of writing. She started her own marketing & communications business, www.bilaninc.com, and has worked with clients like Spanx, Goody Hair Products, and Chick Filet.

In addition to juggling nap schedules while attending client meetings, Shelli focuses on her writing. In her spare time (yeah right!) and if the kids allow (yeah right!), Shelli obsesses over movies, reads children's books (over and over), wishes she could squeeze in Bikram Yoga sessions, and dreams of sleeping in on the weekends.
She currently lives in Atlanta with her dog, British-accented husband, and the huge imaginations of their little prince and princess that someday will change the world.

Blah blah blah - BORING!

In a nutshell - I love sunsets, rainbows, butterflies, and puppies. Oh yeah and zombies.

What would you consider a perfect day for you as an author?

Maybe the day I write a perfect chapter that never has to be edited. Actually, my launch day is going to come pretty close. When my book is out in the world.

What sort of research (if any) did you do for this novel?

I am totally a method writer. I believe it is important to do what your character does so you can make it real. I took self-defense classes, a flyfishing class, and we have gone to the Smokies as well as Cherokee NC a few times. My husband is an avid camper so we go hiking a lot.

Is there any character in particular that you enjoyed writing about the most?

Al and Billy were fun because I got to be something I am not. Mean and deranged. Which was kinda scary how real they came out.

Were any of your characters or events from the book based of real life people or experiences you have had?

I did go to Cherokee NC and see the bear pits there in the town. I was as horrified as Grace. And I wish I could do something to change it. Her feelings were mine.

Are there any other projects you are working on that you would like to tell us about?

Well. I’m working on a special edition of Untraceable for Jan/Feb, which will have the original ending. It will be a summary of the book plus the last 1/3 of the book.

Also Uncontrollable is the sequel. It is scheduled for summer 2012 and is set in the winter.

Did any of your characters give you a difficult time while writing this book?

She’s this dependable person who is very focused. But at times, she goes off on a whim that doesn’t seem to make sense to me. But it was me as a teen so I understand her.
Grace. Because I find her very impulsive and that frustrates me. Sometimes I found myself almost yelling as I wrote saying, “What are you doing?” But I think teens are impulsive and don’t think of consequences until later.

Cappuccino or Coffee?

Coffee with flavored cream. I do love soy chai tea lattes too.

What do you like to do in your down time?

I love to be with my family. I’m kinda boring. I stay at home, play with my kids, and read. I guess that’s why I write thrillers to add some excitement.

My Thoughts
In most families elders try to keep their kids from getting tattoos, but in this family it’s a must.
This story has tons of action and is also a bit of a coming of age story. Rae is learning fast that her family is much more than she ever believed it was and much more dangerous.  Through Rae’s journey to find out the truth about her family and trying to stay alive she learns more about herself. The characters growth can be seen throughout the story and I really liked her character.
The adventure and suspense in this story had me captivated right from the start. I highly recommend “Rae of Hope” to lovers of fantasy/suspense.

My Thoughts

I have been waiting for the third installment in the Tiger’s Curse series since the first two were self published and after reading it I have to say it was well worth the wait.
Kishan has grown a lot in the past couple of books and you can really see that in “Tiger’s Voyage”. He really loves Kelsey, but he does not ever try to take advantage of the fact that Ren has now lost his memory to try and get closer to her. He is supportive and kind making it much harder for Kelsey to resist him.
Kelsey herself has some big decisions to make in this book and none of them are easy. I found myself crying at some point in this book and then jumping for joy at others. Colleen has once again captured my heart with her “Tiger’s Curse” Series. While reading “Tiger’s Voyage” I was put through and emotional rollercoaster right along with the characters and now I am anxiously awaiting for the next book “Tiger’s Destiny” which is sure to be even better than the last three.
Fans of Colleen Houck’s “Tiger’s Curse” series are sure to love this newest installment.  If you haven’t yet, go and check out this gripping new fantasy/romance series by Colleen Houck, you are sure to be spellbound!

My Thoughts

Who says men can’t write good romance novels?

Lana is a strong woman and healer who does not allow others to push her around and does what she has to in order to protect her village.

Alaron is the powerful keeper of the forest who is as mysterious as he is dangerous. He is instantly attracted to Lana the minute she steps into his woods.

The relationship between these two was very passionate and beautiful and I loved seeing their world. I also really liked how Alaron tried to woo Lana very steamy. Lana was definitely no push over she was just as passionate and exciting as Alaron.

Fans of Fantasy romance will love “Lady of the Drake” by JV Altharas.

EXCERPT #1:

Lana heard the waterfall in the distance, speeding up with a second wind. The pool was as breathtaking as she remembered, a hundred feet across and fed by a spring flowing from a huge crack in the sheer cliff above. She dropped her pack on the shore and sat for a moment, bracing herself for the cold swim ahead. She took off her boots and breeches, letting down her fiery hair, catching sight of what looked like a pile of gear on the opposite shore. Her heart skipped a beat when a man burst from beneath the water with a handful of leafy, purple plants. Lana stood frozen in disbelief. In the middle of the wilderness, where she’d never seen another living soul, someone had beaten her to the dragon bane when she needed it most. She didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
The man swam towards his gear, getting out of the water and laying the plants out to dry on a rock warmed by the sun. Lana stood silent and unnoticed, enjoying the view. Even at a distance her eyes caught the sunlight playing across his body, highlighting every ripple of flesh, allowing his thick cock to gleam in the sun. Perhaps this wouldn’t be a wasted trip, after all.
He noticed her as he turned and dove back in, swimming toward her. Lana was mesmerized as he cut through the water. Soon the man stood just off shore in water to his waist, matted dark hair showing a hint of curl, with a cockeyed smile that melted her. Lana was struck with the fact that she stood there wearing nothing but a tunic that barely reached mid-thigh.
He grinned. “Here to poach my garden again?”
She folded her arms. “Your garden? As far as I can see, this is open forest. Unless I’ve got my facts mixed up, only dragons claim these woods, and you seem a bit short on wings and scales.”
He laughed. “Ah, then you challenge my claim. Well then, I suppose it’s everyone for themselves. There’s more down there, but you’ll have to beat me to it.”
“Very well,” she replied. “Just turn around so I can finish undressing.”
“And if I don’t?”
Lana met his playful gaze, feeling a twinge between her legs, saying, “Then I’ll wonder if I can trust you to be a gentleman once I’m in the water.”
Stroking his chin, he said, “Hmm, I suppose that does present you with a choice to make. Still, the water is lovely. And who would expect to find a gentleman out here in the wilderness?” He made no move to turn away, daring her with his eyes.
Lana tested the water with a toe, shocked to find it as warm as a bath, wondering why she hadn’t noticed the steam rising from it earlier. The young healer decided she’d come too far to leave without her prize, and there were far worse things than a naked swim with a handsome stranger. Lana stripped off her loose tunic, revealing a toned body and a pair of firm breasts. She held his gaze, wading into the water to meet him, nipples constricting as she got a closer look.
If he wanted a race, he’d get one. She dove past him with a smirk and swam toward the falls, source of the turbulent water the plants required to thrive. It took a few dives to gather the dragon bane, and Lana grew more playful each time. The clear water gave her a shameless look at her rival, and she was more than a little distracted. Lana was tempted to throw herself at him without so much as exchanging names, a thought that was brazen even for her.
He laid the plants out to dry and rejoined her in the water, saying, “That’s four to you and six to me, I believe.” Four plants wouldn’t treat half the sick, but she had other needs to attend at the moment.
Lana took a handful of his cock, asking, “Is there anything I can do to thank the mysterious stranger for sharing?”
“That’s not very ladylike,” he said.
She responded with a kiss, feeling his cock begin to stiffen in her hand. It was big, maybe too big, but she wasn’t one to turn from a challenge. With a smile, she said, “A lady would have stayed on shore in the first place.”
A broad grin split his face as he beckoned her towards the falls, swimming away. The water was near scalding, steam bellowing out where cool mist should be spraying. Every nerve in her flesh was alive, screaming for his touch. Lana followed him through the curtain of water, secluded from the world around them, where he lifted her to sit on a rock ledge at the water line. Tired of waiting, she locked her ankles behind his back; squeezing him in a passionate embrace. For a long moment they tasted each other, his hands exploring her responsive flesh.
He teased an earlobe with his teeth, caressing her swollen mound with his fingers. “Is this what you had in mind?” he asked.
“Almost.” Lana grinned, leaning back on her hands. He sank into the water, kissing a meandering path down her body, rewarded with sighs and whimpers along the way. She felt lips on her thigh, a finger teasing her clit, and his eager tongue parting her labia. Lana moaned, bucking her hips, grinding herself into him, as the beat of her pounding heart grew louder than the water crashing around them. He slipped a finger inside her, then another, twisting them while his tongue abused her clit. His mouth played rough, and she loved it.
Lana’s breathing became ragged and her moans grew louder. She wove a hand through his hair, squealing when a third finger disappeared between her slippery lips. The stretching sensation pushed her over the edge, and her own cries of climax drowned out the falls. She collapsed against the rock as waves of pleasure washed over her; half-senseless, half-desperate for more. He stood between her legs, toying with her nipples while the last convulsions subsided.
He took Lana’s hands, pulling her into another embrace. She stroked the hard cock pressing into her belly, marveling at its girth, still wondering what it would do to her pussy but eager to find out. She rested back on the cliff, guiding his shaft toward the tight hole his fingers had stretched, but he resisted.
Lana shot him a confused glance, but the light in his eyes said he was teasing. She asked, “What do I have to do, beg for it?” His response was a slow, deliberate nod. She was willing to play his game. Lana batted her eyes, pleading for his cock. She clenched her teeth, bracing herself to take the pain she knew was coming. Lana grunted, and thrashed, feeling as if she was being split in two while he forced his way inside her. Short, gentle strokes soon had her squealing.
He picked her up, still impaled on his cock, carrying her into the falls. Hot water cascaded over them like liquid fire, splashing her pussy with each thrust, sending her mind reeling into the ether. Lana felt herself stretched to the limit in a tempest of pain and pleasure. She buried her head in his chest, reveling in the strong hands under her ass as she bounced on his cock, wishing the moment would never end. Time and again she came, each orgasm squeezing him tighter, until the pain was just a memory.
“Please fill me,” she begged.
“Come for me one more time,” he said. “I’ll join you.” Lana felt another climax building, as if on his command. Their eyes met as he exploded inside her, the fire in his gaze launching her into another powerful orgasm. Lana threw her arms around him, holding tight, waiting for the aftershocks to fade. She stirred when he carried her out of the falls, realizing she’d passed out for a moment. He set her back on the ledge, pulling out as her body shook one last time.
Lana was giggling, with a glassy-eyed grin, while he covered her face and chest in kisses. He said, “For the record, I consider myself thoroughly thanked.”
EXCERPT #2:
Lana stepped behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist and resting her head on his back. The alchemy was fascinating, but lewd little voices were shouting in her head. The effects of the drug were beyond anything she could have dreamed. For precious flashes she felt connected to the nature around her, as if she were one more tree rooted in the ancient forest. She held on to Alaron as if he were an anchor, keeping her tethered in a storm of wild thoughts. Closing her eyes, she imagined what gifted creatures the dragons must be if this was their view of the world.
Alaron turned to face her, drinking in the scent of her hair and the sound of her pulse quickening at his touch. He wanted to tear off her clothes and have her right there, but the moon was climbing and there was much he wanted to show her before the elixir wore off. In particular, a more entertaining place to tear off her clothes.
They walked to a grove of knotted, twisted trees draped with thick vines. The tendrils were glowing orange with life, as opposed to the blues and greens of most foliage. Lana reached out to touch one, almost jumping out of her skin when it recoiled from her fingers. Alaron began kissing the nape of her neck, whispering, “Meet the walking ivy, a creature which feeds on a parasite that attacks these trees.” He unbuckled the belt holding her pouches, letting it fall to the forest floor. Nibbling her ear, he said, “Being a creature of the forest, it tends to do my bidding. Do you trust me?”
“Yes,” Lana whispered, admitting to herself it was true. She had been in his thrall since the moment they’d met, and was far past turning away. Now, with dragon bane coursing through her veins and wiping away every inhibition, she couldn’t imagine resisting him.
Alaron spun her, pushing her against the trunk of the giant tree, pinning her arms. The ivy coiled around her wrists, warm to the touch, as Alaron moved in to taste her lips. She strained against the vines, nipples tightening against the fabric of her tunic.
Alaron sank to one knee, removing her boots, kissing down her legs while he stripped her. He stood, pausing to give her clit a single lash of his tongue. The elixir intensified every sensation, every brush of his fingertips. Alaron’s aura turned crimson, as if to advertise his lust. The tendrils gripped her ankles, then her waist; releasing their hold on her wrists long enough for Alaron to pull off her tunic.
Lana was naked, helpless, at the mercy of this man and his forest…yet she had only lust in her eyes. She did trust him, and was eager to surrender. The elixir seemed to confirm what she’d sensed all along: This was no ordinary man, and every moment she spent with him deepened her desire to know more.
Alaron covered her face in kisses, hands floating across her flesh as a sigh of contentment whispered through the grove. Lana flashed greedy eyes as he undressed, shadows cast by the midnight sun playing across his muscles. The scent of her own arousal filled her nostrils as the ivy brought her to her knees, eye level with the cock that had been haunting her dreams. Alaron stepped close and she devoured it, full lips straining at his girth as her head bobbed in the blinding moonlight.
She flashed him a smoldering gaze while her tongue teased his shaft, rewarded with a soft smile and fingers running through her hair. The ivy writhed as it held her, like a thousand hands caressing her body, pulsating with the beat of some hidden heart. The vines hauled her back to her feet and she let out a plaintive whine, wishing to finish what she’d started.
Alaron stepped close and kissed her, tightening his grip on her hair and tilting her head back, squeezing a firm nipple. The ivy drew Lana’s knees up to her shoulders, holding her spread-eagle against the trunk of the tree. She shivered as a cool breeze blew through the grove, tickling her moistened clit. Lana struggled against the vines, wanting to wrap her legs around him.
Lana sucked on a finger slipped into her mouth, remembering the taste of his cock, squealing when that finger explored her ass. Alaron whispered, “Do you like having things stuck in here?” She moaned, betraying herself as he played with her tightest hole. His thumb worked her clit, and she was losing herself in ecstasy. The vines grew hot to the touch, seeming to pulsate in time with her heartbeat.
“Let yourself go,” whispered Alaron. “Let the ivy connect you to the forest.” Lana’s pussy was dripping as she raced toward climax, covering his hand with her juices. Whimpers became squeals and her whole body tensed, fighting the steely grip of the vines. Alaron spanked her sopping mound in short, quick strokes; the pain launching her over the edge. A piercing cry split the night, and Lana’s whole world went grey as her body convulsed in orgasm.
She became the walking ivy, and the trees, and the birds. She felt wind rushing through her feathers, and rough bark beneath her tendrils. Lana was one with the forest around her for a few precious heartbeats. Her mind’s eye floated into the air, looking down on the landscape as if the whole of it had become her body…but Alaron wasn’t done with her flesh.
Lana snapped back to consciousness, her pussy screaming for attention, feeling ever more restrained in the grip of the ivy. “What happened?” she asked, struggling to no avail. Being helpless made the passion all the more intense, and she yearned for the thick cock resting against her belly. Lana bucked her hips, grinding her slit on his shaft.
Licking his fingers, with a wicked grin, he said, “The wonders of sex and dragon bane.”
“More,” she pleaded, remembering he had a weakness for begging. “Please fuck me, please.”
Alaron rubbed his head on her clit, covering it in her wetness before pushing just the tip inside her. Lana thrashed against the ivy, desperate for more. “Is that enough?” he asked.
“More,” she whined, “please.” He kissed her, tugging on her nipples with his fingers, pushing in another inch. Lana strained against his girth, but there was less pain this time. Every nerve in her body was on fire, each twitch of his shaft a small explosion. She had never felt so helpless…so taken…so content.
Lana struggled forward, biting the nape of his neck in an act of animal lust. A muffled cry escaped her as he slammed his cock home, with what sounded like a growl. She bit harder, wanting to see him lose control. Lana got her wish.
Alaron fucked her with reckless abandon, bouncing her small body against the tree, each stroke sending a tremor through her entire being. The vines were heating up again, in time with the climax building inside her. She tried to open her mind, to connect again with the walking ivy and through it the forest. Pressure continued mounting, until Lana was insane with lust and desperate for release. “Hurt me,” she begged between squeals.
He reached behind her back, yanking her down on his cock by the hair. The vines tightened, their grip approaching scalding as her body began shaking. Alaron slammed his cock home, twisting her nipple, whispering, “Come for me.” His words were like a trigger.
Lana let loose a wanton moan that echoed through the trees, squeezing his cock with all her might. Each yank on her hair; each slow, measured stroke set off a fresh climax until he exploded inside her.
As a trickle of lust made its way down her leg, again Lana’s world went grey. She could sense all of Ashen Forest, from her childhood home to the slopes of the Aranis Mountains. Every leaf, every branch, every creature scurrying through the night was naught but a whisper away. Lana sensed them all looking back at her with recognition, and this time there was no jarring return to the flesh.
The walking ivy released her unconscious body, at Alaron’s bidding. Lana wouldn’t wake for hours, and he smiled at the thought of his forest learning her name while she wandered. He laid her on the ground then sat beside her, content to watch her sleep for a while, brushing a sweaty tangle of hair from her face. It took a very particular sort of human to connect with the land, and Lana was no less than exceptional.

His Holiday Seduction by Dawne Prochilo

Author: Dawne Prochilo
Publisher: Romance Divine LLC (October 5, 2011)
Book Rating: 4 Love Potions
Source: Review Copy

Synopsis:

The holiday season was not going to be "Holly-Jolly" if Dani McPherson had her way. She needed time alone, away from the library...away from men...away from the memory of her broken engagement...with Chad. Hunter Nielsen had his eye on his sexy neighbor for quite some time, although she never seemed to acknowledge his very existence. But now Hunter had a plan, to capture Dani's heart, it was all part of His Holiday Seduction.

My Thoughts

What better way to celebrate the holiday then with that sexy neighbor you've had your eye on?

Our heroine Dani still hasn't gotten over her broken engagement from last christmas and the holiday brings up some bad memories. After a run in with her sexy neighbor Hunter Nielson she does some soul searching and realizes that she is finally able to put the past behind her and hopefully make some new memories that she hopes involves a lot of naked time with Hunter. Unbenownst to her Hunter has much the same plans.

I loved how this story showed Dani finally getting over a break up and taking charge of her life instead of moping like she used to. Her character really grew by the end of the book even with the short length. Of course my favorite part had to be when Dani pretended that her power had gone out in order to get Hunter to come over. A trick that Hunter himself had thought of using not moments before she came over. The love scene was really steamy and their interaction with each other aftewards was like the book itself funny yet sweet.

Spice up your holiday with "His Holiday Seduction" by Dawne Prochilo.

When she was ready to be ridden, the horny lads quickly discovered what Fluffy was all about—more, more, and yet more rockin’ ‘n’ rollin’. But as with most good things, there was a catch. The casually mentioned fact that Fluffy was the dean’s daughter made genitalia shrivel and graduation a crap-shoot. The romp ends with bittersweet yet fond memories of a night in the life.

My Thoughts

Fall into a world of daring experimentation as theses college students discover a whole new world of sensuality.

Highly addicting this delicously written anthology is a great read for anyone who has or has ever wondered what it would be like to participate in some more outrageous sexploits. These stories were very well written and entertaining.

Warning: contains explicit sexual material some may find offensive.

1.       What would you consider a perfect day for you as an author?

More time. I would love to have longer, uninterrupted periods to work on my writing. I have young children, so things get busy around here, but I do manage to find pockets of time to work and get things done.

2.
What sort of research (if any) did you do for this novel?

My parents are from Cyprus, so I grew up hearing about certain people in their villages and stories of their country. There was a lot of discussion about the 1974 invasion of Cyprus when I was growing up, too. I was able to recall what they told me, decades later. Aside from what I knew when I was younger, more recently, I  talked to my father about how a person would go about walking from the captured villages to get help, populations in various villages at that time, and so forth. The Internet and some reference books I have were also great sources of information.

3. Is there any character in particular that you enjoyed writing about the most?

I would say Christian. He instinctively feels something is going on with his wife, Tash, and begins the search for answers. He is an observant, reliable, sexy dude with an edge who also is close to his wife. I like those qualities in a man.

4.
Were any of your characters or events from the book based of real life people or experiences you have had?

Absolutely. For example, later in the book, there is a problem with a camera and some pictures a character is trying to find before they end up in the wrong hands. I have a fear of cameras and don't like being photographed. So, the character's anxiety, trying to locate this camera, is how I feel when someone says, "Hey, get in this picture!"

5.  Are there any other projects you are working on that you would like to tell us about?

I am working on getting the word out about "Raping Aphrodite," but intend to begin working on the book's prequel in the coming months. I also am proofreading the paperback version of "Raping Aphrodite," hopefully to be available in early 2012. Also, I have a first-person essay that has been accepted by biostories.com that will be appearing in the near future.

6.  Did any of your characters give you a difficult time while writing this book?

No. I took breaks in my writing so sort out how these characters would do things, but I don't feel like they were difficult. I just had to decide their fate and control them. I briefly thought about making Luca's character evil, perhaps making him a killer but felt like he needed to be fatherly and protective. I also thought I might romantically pair up a couple of other characters, but decided they were incompatible as lovers and were better off being friends. It was just a matter of thinking it through.

7.  Cappuccino or Coffee

Neither. I am a complete bore when it comes to drinking. I only drink water, sometimes juice and hot chocolate. No coffees, sodas, or alcohol. Keeps off the weight.

8.  What do you like to do in your down time?

I read, walk and watch movies. I have a vast collection of films I enjoy.

9.  What three words would you use to describe Tash Colgate?

 Smart, sexy, spirited.

10.   Do you relate to any of your characters?

I think in some ways, I can relate to all of them. They have endured personal loss and challenges. As I approach age 50, I feel like I have, too.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this interview!

My Thoughts
Alex's life has never been easy and unfortunately for him it will only get worse.

I was really impressed with how the author wrote this novel. It isn't easy to write a story without the perception of sight. Much of the way we perceive the surroundings and people in a book is based on sight. This book was written beautifully and smoothly making you forget sometimes that the character you are reading about is even blind. I think the book was actually enhanced a bit because we got to get a feel for the characters and the atmosphere of the book because it was more focused on the smells, tastes, sounds, and feel of its surroundings.

Alex was a very relatable character as far as personality goes. Many of us have faced some tough times in our school days. His character was also very noble and courageous because even though he hated his ability to foresee the future he was able to turn it around and use his ability to help protect the one he loved no matter how dangerous it was.

The plot was very well written and was able to keep me interested with all of its twists and turns. So if you are looking for a uniquely new and exciting book check out "Farsighted" by Emlyn Chand!

Book Rating: 4 stars

Synopsis:

Dragon Spawn Chronicles
Enchanted as a child, Rhiannon grows up hidden, safe from a destiny that could be disastrous to her world. But when an evil sorcerer, seeking to destroy the Power of Two, opens the veiled gate that holds the dragons underground, Rhiannon must emerge. She must find the warrior marked with the dragon’s flame, for only he can defeat the evil devouring the land.
Laird Dylan is a shadow in his own keep. Branded at birth with a dragon's head mark, he is shackled to a cursed life. Now dragons lay waste to his land. But his duty to stop them is derailed when he meets a woman who is unafraid of his shadowed past—a woman he could love.
In the midst of evil, Dylan and Rhiannon find a love more powerful than dragons and sorcerers. But will it be lost to save the world they know?

My Thoughts

A quest to her world ends in finding the love of a lifetime, but will their love be lost in their quest to save the world?

Rhiannon and Dylan are both thrust into a world of magic, evil, and love. Rhiannon has lived a sheltered life being kept from a disastrous destiny. Dylan has been an outcast since he was branded with a dragons head mark at birth and has been shackled to a cursed life. An evil sorcerer has unleashed the dragons from the underground and it is up to Rhiannon to find the one with the dragons mark. She is afraid of this destiny, but finds the courage to find Dylan and fulfill her destiny to save the world from its disastrous fate. Unfortunately the evil sorcerer will stop at nothing to get her first.

Rhiannon is a very strong character with a lot of depth she is a brave heroine and even when she is afraid she still does her best to fight for the safety of her world no matter how dangerous it may be to do so. Her courage and kindness makes her a perfect match for the scarred and emotionally hardened Dylan. He has always been feared by others because of his past, but he is a very honorable man and Rhiannon sees this. I loved the romance between these two characters. The story drew me in from the beginning and was filled action, romance, and mysterious mythical creatures.

I highly recommend this to lovers of fantasy novels!
