Synopsis:
After battling a malevolent ghost that held the spirit of her friend Ian MacKinnon bound to the land for two hundred years, sixteen-year-old reluctant psychic, Riley Williams, felt as if she was finally easing into her new life in Scotland.
Or so she thought.
Laria, the spirit of the witch who had cursed Ian wants revenge for Riley’s interference and she’s bringing along friends—dark entities who thrive on evil.
The one bright spot in Riley’s world is Ian’s descendent, Kade MacKinnon, who could easily be Ian’s modern day twin. The parallels between the two guys are undeniable. As Riley’s relationship with Kade blossoms, she begins to realize Laria has grown in her power since their last confrontation—a power that could very well manipulate the living just as effectively as the dead.

My Thoughts
I just can’t get enough of this series and the second book did not disappoint!
These characters are so real and bring out such emotion that it was hard to put this book down. The dark romance and danger keep building and bring with it more exciting twists and turns in this book.
I really grew to like Kade as a character and the relationship between him and Riley. I couldn’t help being excited over this new love interest.

Laria is even worse than before and it was exciting to see how Riley handled both her and her growing powers.
Fans of the first book are sure to love “The Haunted” which gives readaers even more action and romance than the first.

Beauty and the beast: they were the scandal of the ton. All eyes feasted on the beautiful flame-haired gambler in London’s most infamous club. But Julia Prentisse was interested only in the rake-turned-recluse whom they now called "The Beast." She lured him out of the crowded club to a deserted warehouse, where she made her scandalous offer: If he married her and protected her from her uncle, she would help him capture the arsonist who had ruined his life.
An act of heroism had left Morgan St. James burned, scarred for life, but Julia’s bold gaze lit other fires he had long suppressed. And now this glorious stranger was his bride. But when he tried to claim his husbandly rights, she demanded three months grace—three months to know a stranger’s mind, to touch a stranger’s soul, to go where no woman had ever gone before. Into his heart...
My Thoughts
A beautiful retelling of a the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast.
These two characters have such depth and emotion that I was instantly drawn to them. I loved the tension and romance that this book held. Morgan and Julia were two people who needed love and healing and together they were able to achieve both.
I liked seeing the growth of love between these two slowly, but surly. This was a story full of action, romance, and hope. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good romance that will make you believes in the power of true love.
EXCERPT
"Why did you come here?" he asked.
Gathering her courage, she ventured hesitantly, "If you're not too busy, I thought we might do something today. Together. As man and wife."
He released a bored sigh. "What did you have in mind, a waltz? Ordinarily I'd indulge your whim, but as you can see, the orchestra has temporarily abandoned its post."
"I've missed you."
The statement hung in the air between them. Morgan studied her face for a long moment. "There is a term in fencing for toying with one's opponent."
"Are we opponents?"
"Are you toying?"
"I'm not sure what I'm doing."
"Forgive me if I find that difficult to believe. I've never met a more purposeful woman in my life."
A small smile touched her lips. "Is that good or bad?"
"What do you want, Julia?"
She couldn't remember him ever using her name before. The sound of it rolling off his tongue sent an unexpected rush of pleasure racing through her. Idly wondering if his reaction would be the same if she spoke his name, she said, "I thought it might be nice if we spent a little time together, Morgan."
She saw something flash in his eyes, but the emotion, whatever it was, vanished too quickly for her to properly define. "Ah. So that's it." A small, cynical smile curved his lips. His gaze moved over her body with scorching intensity, as though he were able to see right through to her drawers. He straightened and glanced around the empty room, then back at her. "Interesting timing."
Heat flooded her cheeks. "I didn't mean—"
"Didn't you."
"Certainly not. Must you always be so base?"
"You're the one who came to me."
"With the simple proposition that we attend Lord Attmark's boating party this afternoon," she said, seizing upon the sudden inspiration. "That's all I had in mind."
"Lord Attmark's boating party?"
"I thought it would be quite diverting."
"Floating along a river that smells like rancid sewage in this sweltering heat. That's what you came to see me about."
"Yes."
A knowing smile curved his lips. "Liar."
"I don't know what—"
"Liar," he repeated softy.

“…Trust me: A fun read for lovers of romance, and CERTAINLY for lovers of the Beauty/Beast type story (which I am). This is the only book of Ms. Lynne’s that I’ve read, but based on my enjoyment, I shall surely seek more.”
“An excellent read—I loved it! I have never read Victoria Lynne before this book. You can bet I will from now on. This book was excellent and I couldn’t put it down… If you like Jude Deveraux or Kathleen Woodiwiss, pick up this book!”
“This book is as great as the reviews! I am happy to say that it was a pleasure to read a romance that fulfills everything I look for in a novel…This was my first book by this author but I will by all means be looking for more.”
“Surprisingly good! I received this book from my sister and thought it would prove to be just another trite formula romance. She said it was “really good,” so I gave it a chance. She was right. It does have all of those necessary facets that make it a romance novel, but the writing is crisp and talented, the characters sizzle with a never flagging sexual tension, and the plot never sinks to feeling contrived or phoney. I enjoyed every page!”
“I loved this. I could write a long review of this book, but I won’t. I will sum it up in as few words as possible. This story contained two extremely likeable characters. The dialogue between them was so entertaining and well-worded. I loved every encounter between them. Everything about this novel was real. I loved it, and I can truly say it is one of my favorite novels.”
“Fabulous! With This Kiss had everything I look for in a romance—a tender hero, touching love scenes, a strong heroine, and even a mystery to solve. I will be hunting down this author’s backlist.”
“Fresh and rewarding…definitely get you hands on this book.”
“This was an extremely well-written book, with believable characters and an interesting plot…”

My Thoughts
Strangely addicting the world that Lora Leigh creates will lure you in and hold you long after the last turn of the page.
Cassa Hawkins is cursed with the helpless longing to be with Cabal who she believes undoubtedly hates her. I feel equal parts love and hate for this book I really hate how Cabal treats Cassa in the beginning, but the action and tension helped to keep my interest. I was glad because by the end I liked Cabal a little better. He at least cared for her even if he didn’t show it much in the beginning. Overall this was a well written and exciting book by Lora Leigh.
"Single White Vampire" by Lynsay Sands
By : Katie
Synopsis:
Roundhouse Publishing Editor Kate C. Leever's first letter to her newest legacy author was intended to impress upon him the growing demand for his "vampire romances." Though he'd expressed little to no desire for publicity, book tours or the like, it was clear that this was a writer waiting to be broken out. Correspondence with Mr. Lucern Argeneau tended to be oddly delayed, but this time his response was quick and succinct.
"No."
But Kate was adamant: Luc will attend a romance convention to meet his fans. By hook or by crook, despite his reclusive nature, odd sleep schedule and avoidance of the sun, the surly yet handsome Luc was going to be recognized as the real charmer a nationally bestselling author should be. But soon Kate would learn that his novels were more biographies than bodice rippers, and it'd be her neck on the line.

My Thoughts
“Single White Vampire” is a fun romantic comedy that Vampire romance lovers are sure to enjoy.
Kate is a determined woman and she doesn’t take no for an answer. This causes a bit of trouble for Lucern who ends up entertaining her at his house as well as finding out she is a potential life mate. Kate is perfect for Lucern because she doesn’t allow him to boss her around and gets him to loosen up a bit and have some fun.
Lucern is a sweet, but stubborn and somewhat tightly wound. He gets into a load of trouble trying to keep Kate in the dark all the while falling head over heels for the stubborn woman.
This book is full of laughs and sweet tender moments that kept me anxious for the next turn of the page.

A unique and sexy new look on vampires. This story will have you laughing and fanning yourself at the same time.
Decker is one sexy vampire and when he realizes that Dani is his life mate things start to heat up fast as well as make for some hilarious situations Decker gets into trying to keep Dani in the dark for a while and woo her at the same time.
Dani has a sarcastic sense of humor that just made the book for me. Even after all of the crazy things happening around her she is still able to joke about it. She doesn’t trust Decker at first, but can’t deny the spark between them. I really like how these two characters interact with one another and how sweet Decker was to Dani, especially with all that’s happening.
I highly recommend “Immortal Hunter” to any vampire romance lovers!

My Thoughts
Take another amazing journey into the world of Harmony with Sierra and John work together to find out what is going on with a new drug known as “ghost juice”.
Sierra is an investigative reporter who does what is needed to get her story. She teams up with city guild boss John to uncover why there are so many missing ghost hunters and soon finds that they are becoming much closer than she expected. Sierra was a great character with a lot of backbone. I really respect her dedication to her job and how much she does to help her friends.
John was a sweet and brave hero who has longed for a family since he never had much of one as a kid. Marrying Sierra gives him that and more. It doesn’t take long for John to realize that he is falling for Sierra. The only problem left is keeping them alive and wooing his new bride in the process.
The relationship between these two was sweet and full of twists and turns. I loved watching these two fall in love all the while fighting to stay alive as enemies constantly throw another wrench in their plans.
Fans of Jayne Castle’s previous books will love this newest edition to the Ghost Hunters series.

My Thoughts
A hilarious new YA that explores the antics and trouble that come with a fourteen year-old ghost trying to be good. This story will have you both breaking out into hysterics and gripping the pages in anticipation.
Gabby is a typical fourteen year old, well except for the being dead part, and she does have a mischievous streak that gets her into a bit of trouble. I highly enjoyed reading this fun and thought provoking new story. Gabby is an endearing character that I’m sure many readers will love and she had real depth making it easy to relate to her and lose myself ,if only for a bit, in this loveable new story.
I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun and thought provoking YA read.

My Thoughts
A matchmaker and a scarred Ghost Hunter find that love comes at the most unlikely of times.
Celinda is used to others uneasiness about her gift so she mostly keeps it a secret, but when she meets David who has an unusual power of his own they find an attraction to each other hard to resist.
Celinda is beautiful woman both inside and out and I was so happy that she found someone like David who understands and cares for her just as she does for him. Both of these characters keep their gifts a secret for fear of being rejected and being able to go along on their journey to protect the precious object and see how their love unfolds was such a delight.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good paranormal romance.

My Thoughts
Jumping once again into this fantastic world of Ghost Hunter’s and dust bunnies I was not disappointed.
The action was plentiful and the romance steamy, the perfect blend for a fantastic paranormal read.
Cooper has to be my favorite Ghost Hunter of all time. At first he seems like the strong silent type, but I soon realized that he had a mischievous streak a mile wild. I really liked Cooper and think he is a great match for Elly.
Elly is tired of Ghost Hunter’s and their barbaric ways, but she soon finds that not all Ghost Hunter’s are as they seem. Elly is very stubborn, opinionated, and very kind making her the perfect match for Cooper. I really liked Elly as a character and felt she had a very interesting and fun personality making reading about her all the more enjoyable.

My Thoughts
“After Glow” continues where “After Dark” left off and now Lydia is once again caught up in a murder investigation.
“After Glow” really ties up all of the loose ends from the first book and readers get to see more of Lydia and Emmett and of course the loveable dust bunnies. I really liked how this book was written. The storyline kept me just as enraptured as the first and maybe even more so with the current developments in Lydia and Emmett’s relationship.
The budding relationship between Lydia and Emmett was really the highlight of the book. I was thrown into the rollercoaster of emotions brought out in this book with the characters and I loved every minute of it.
Readers of Jayne Castle’s Harmony books are sure to love the sequel to “After Dark”!

Discover a whole new world where dust bunnies are actually cool pets, Ghost Hunters are actually very powerful and very sexy men, and love is found in the most unlikely of places.
The author creates a mesmerizing world that readers will want to get lost in over and over again. Very well written with beautiful imagery “After Dark” is a must have for any romance lovers shelf. The intrigue and romance are plentiful in this story and they had me greedily turning each page.
Lydia is an independent woman trying to get her career back on track, but luck just isn’t on her side when she finds a dead body in the sarcophagus exhibit. Lydia is a fun character to read about she has real depth making it very easy to relate to her. Emmett is a very charismatic yet headstrong man who would most probably be the center piece of many a woman’s dreams. The minute these two meet the sparks fly.
Readers will enjoy following along with these two as they get themselves into loads of trouble and try to understand the growing attraction to each other in the process.

My Thoughts
The author creates a wonderfully mysterious and often dangerous world in which Shifters have been revealed to humans and live as outcasts in shiftertowns in order to sustain peace between the races.
This story was a delightful read full of sexy shifters and a bit of a mystery. Kim Fraser must make her way through not only the very different politics of the shifter world, but the prejudices of her own kind to help keep an innocent man from being killed and find love with the most unlikely of people. The intrigue that surrounds her case and much of the shifter world itself makes for a thought provoking and thrilling read.
The relationship between Liam and Kim spices up this book and keeps readers anticipating each turn of the page. This unusual couple definitely has some steamy chemistry together. They differ in many ways, but are alike in others such as their stubbornness. This makes the duo an even more interesting pair to see how they come together to not only solve the case, but make a great new couple.
Interview with Krista Holle author of "The Lure of Shapinsay
By : Katie
I would like to welcome Krista Holle to Curse of the Bibliophile and thank her for doing this interview with me!
Synopsis
Ever since Kait Swanney could remember, the old crones of the village have been warning her to stay away from the selkies. They claim that like sirens of old, the seal men creep from the inky waters, shed their skins, and entice women to their deaths beneath the North Sea. But avoiding an encounter becomes impossible when Kait is spotted at the water’s edge, moments after the murder of a half-selkie infant.
Kait is awoken unexpectedly by a beautiful, naked selkie man seeking revenge. After she declares her innocence, the intruder darts into the night, but not before inadvertently bewitching her with an overpowering lure.
Kait obsesses over a reunion deep beneath the bay and risks her own life to be reunited with her selkie. But when she lands the dangerous lover, the chaos that follows leaves Kait little time to wonder—is it love setting her on fire or has she simply been lured?

1. What would you consider a perfect day for you as an author?
To write undisturbed. Eat some pizza. Write undisturbed. Snorkel in the Florida Keys. Write undisturbed. Comb the beach for seashells. Eat key lime pie. Hmmmm, I sound like a hermit.
2. What sort of research (if any) did you do for this novel?
Just to set the record straight, Shapinsay is one of the tiny Orkney Islands off the coast of Scotland. I actually did quite a bit of research for The Lure of Shapinsay. I wanted the “Lure” to have an almost fairy tale type feel to it. For me that meant cranking back the clock to the early 1800’s and doing a lot of homework for an authentic feel. There was a lot of research for the time period as well as studying old maps of the island. The most difficult thing for me though, was peppering the Orcaidian’s very unique dialect throughout the story without going overboard. My original draft was very true to the language but unintelligible to an outsider.
3. Is there any character in particular that you enjoyed writing about the most?
All the characters were fun to write, but Kait was the most fun. She’s so spunky and full of passion, even without the Lure. I had a lot of fun looking up new Scottish insults for her to say.
4. Were any of your characters or events from the book based off real life people or experiences you have had?
I knew I wanted to write a book about selkies because there’s so little written about these awesome mythical creatures. That being said, I really didn’t have anything to go on but the old legends themselves. The characters are their own, a creation from deep inside my sick cookie brain.
5. Are there any other projects you are working on that you would like to tell us about?
Of course! I’m juggling several projects right now, but the closest on the publishing horizon is the release of The Wind Whisperer. It’s a young adult romance about a fifteen-year-old Native American girl with the ability to “hear” the voices of the wind spirits. While her tribe’s at war with a brother tribe, Anaii falls in love with the enemy. It’s a juicy love triangle filled with intrigue, murder, battles, and kidnappings. Even the guys will like this one.
6. Did any of your characters give you a difficult time while writing this book?
Eamon my naughty selkie was the most difficult to write. It’s my challenge as an author to create a universally sexy young man who does bad things without being a jerk. He must remain mysterious while connecting to the reader at the same time. Tough stuff.
7. Cappuccino or Coffee?
Water with lemon, please.
8. What do you like to do in your down time?
I’m a critical care nurse and mother to four awesome daughters. Writing is my passion, but I also love to collect seashells, read, and watch lots of movies.
9. What three words would you use to describe Kait?
Passionate. Contemporary. Tomboy.
10. Do you relate to any of your characters?
Not in the way the question is intended. I relate to Kait, because I want my readers to relate to the heroine of the story. When you’re reading The Lure of Shapinsay, I want you to feel like you’re literally slipping into Kait’s shoes. When I’m writing, I’m the main character. There is something so magical about a new relationship—that first nervous flutter—that first inquisitive kiss. I want to experience it over and over again.

My Thoughts
Love can be found in the strangest of places and at the most unlikely of times, but it is at the right time and the right place for love.
“Wild Rain” is one of my absolute favorite books written by Christine Feehan. I loved Rio and felt that he was quite possibly one of the sweetest hero’s I have ever come across. He is so lonely and he deserved much more than what he got from his elders. I was so happy when he found Rachel they are so great together. It took a while for Rio to warm up to Rachel, but once he did the sparks flew.
Rachael was a beautiful woman both inside and out. She didn’t have the best life and she tried her best to escape that, but as she finds out you can’t run from your past. Her character really grew a lot throughout the course of the story and I think a lot of that was because of Rio. She grew more confident and courageous learning to stand her ground no matter how scary that might be.
There was plenty of action and mystery as well as readers learn more about not only Rio’s past, but Rachael’s as well. Rio’s skill in combat was proven many times throughout the book as they fought against the people out to get Rachael. The intense scenes were balanced out with plenty of romantic interludes between Rachael and Rio.
This book was a wonderful read that I’m sure many paranormal romance readers will love, especially if they like shifters.

My Thoughts
Dark Destiny is one of the more intense Carpathian books I have read. There is tons of action as well as romance going on in this novel. In this book Nicolae has finally caught up to his lifemate and is anxious to finally meet her. He is also accompanied by his brother Vikirnoff who helps out when he is needed.
Destiny was not born Carpathian, but was changed by a vampire when she was a child. It is because of this that her blood is poisonous to herself and other Carpathians. Destiny was a very strong character with a lot of depth. I really felt for her and her fear that she was evil. She has a good heart and because of this the thought that she is somehow tainted tortures her, but she very rarely shows it. The development of a relationship with Nicolae was believable and sweet.
Nicolae has waited a long time to meet her and feels guilty because he was unable to save her as a child. He is not overly protective like other Carpathian males. He actually stands back a bit allowing Destiny her space. He does watch over her though helping out whenever he is needed. He really was a sweet guy and when these two finally come together it is definitely worth it.

The Beast . . .
Rumor said the powerful Nicolai DeMarco could command the heavens that the beasts below did his bidding . . . and that he was doomed to destroy the woman he took as wife. It was whispered he was not wholly human—as untamed as his tawny mane and slashing amber eyes.
The Beauty . . .
Impoverished aristocrat Isabella Vernaducci would defy death itself to rescue her imprisoned brother. She’d even brave the haunted, accursed lair of the lion—the menacing palace of legendary, lethal Don Nicolai DeMarco.
The Bargain . . .
Then Isabella met a man whose growl was velvet, purring heat, whose eyes held dark, all-consuming desire. And when the don commanded her to become his bride, she went willingly into his muscled arms, praying she’d save his tortured soul . . . not sacrifice her life.
My Thoughts
“Lair of the Lion” is a wonderfully dark take on the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast that lovers of Beauty and the Beast as well as paranormal romance’s are sure to love.
Isabella is an independent woman that is used to doing things her own way, but she must give that up in order to save her beloved brother. She is a beautiful and courageous character that fits the roll of beauty perfectly. Her character had a lot of depth that drew me into the story and made me feel for her as a character. I loved going on this journey with Isabella and felt that it brought out the true themes of Beauty and the Beast very well.
Nicolai was a wonderfully dark and mysterious character that had so many facets to his personality. I got to see the different sides to him gradually throughout the story and fell in love with him just as Isabella does.

Giveaway and Character Interview with Naomi from "In the Shadow of the Moonlight: The Awakening"
By : KatieToday I am excited to be talking to Naomi the main character of "In the Shadow of the Moonlight: The Awakening".
Synopsis:
Naomi Roberts finally receives a scholarship for a semester abroad in Maine. When Naomi’s grandmother suddenly claims that Naomi will soon be transformed into a panther, like her great grandmother Romina, Naomi believes it is a final and desperate attempt to keep her from departing to the USA.
Having arrived in Maine, Naomi enjoys her student life with new friends and her first love, Roman. Even though she feels magically drawn to a mysterious clearing in the woods, believes she is being watched and begins to sleepwalk, she does not remember the prophecy of her grandmother. Until her very first transformation. And - Naomi is not alone, which not only exposes her to mortal danger, but also Roman.
1. What was it like your first day at school in Maine?
It was a really strange feeling. I was not used to speak in English and was very excited how things will go and if I will make friends quickly or if I will feel lonely without my family and friends. It was great to meet Alice in the examination.
2. What was it like the first time you became a panther?
I was shocked and afraid. I had no control over my body and I am used to have always the control over it. It was so strange to be in this new body and it was very hard to discover that I had to learn walking again. I could not believe that the fairy tale story is true and I am like my grandmas mom.
3. Are there any parts about turning into a panther that you particularly hate or enjoy?
One thing is that you can hear pretty good, that you feel like home in the woods, without being afraid of the darkness and of course that you can run fast and climb on trees. It's fun. The nights in the woods are beautiful. The moonlight, the silence, the smell. The bad thing is that I am forced to shift into a panther without chance to protract it. I am not happy about it but I have to live with it. Imagine to shift into a panther in the city hall or the hospital. I am sure that I would not survive this. I have to be very careful.
4. Are you a morning person?
I am used to do sports in the morning, before it is too hot. It is great to start the day being outside and smell the new and fresh day. But as well I love to go out and sometimes I keep sleeping in bed. The woods will be there later as well ;-)
5. What made you decide to study in Maine?
If I am answering seriously Maine was my last choice to study abroad and my last hope as well. I would have preferred Hawaii as I was interested in water sport.
6. Do you have a close with your grandmother?
Absolutely. I love her very much. And after all, she is the only person to talk about what happen to me.
7. When did you first get interested in sports?
Like a kid I always jumped around. Playing soccer with the boys in the street was great fun for me and I forgot sometimes lunch time. My mom worried about that I never will be a real lady, maybe she is right.
8. Do you ever miss your father?
I missed a big family. Sisters, brothers, aunts … I often asked myself how it will be having a father. Other fathers played with their kids, made BBQs and taught riding a bike. Yes I would have loved to have a father. But I am lucky to have my granny and my mom. They always are there for me.
9. When did you first realize that you were in love with Roman?
This is difficult to say. After our first encounter on the stairway I felt attracted by him due to his smile and after the second meeting at the Italian restaurant I felt something I never felt before in my live. But was that love? I suppose I was lost after our first real date.
10. How did you cope the first time you transformed?
I was shocked and frightened. I had no idea what to do or why this happened to me. When I left Roman alone to go to the clearing I felt lonely and scared. After meeting Kai all went a little bit easier, but I am still working in accept the new situation.
