BOOK DESCRIPTION:

Cricket Thompson's lifetime of overachieving has paid off: she's headed to Brown University in the fall, with a spot on the lacrosse team and a scholarship that covers almost everything. Who knew living in the dorm cost money? An Ivy League education seems to mean living at home for the next four years.

When Cricket is offered the chance to earn enough cash to afford a real college experience, she heads back to Nantucket for the summer. But the faraway island challenges Cricket in ways she hadn't anticipated. It's hard to focus on earning money for next year, when she finds her world opening up in entirely new ways-to art, to travel, and, most unexpectedly, to a future completely different from the one she has been working toward her whole life. A friendship blossoms with Ben, the gorgeous surfer and bartender who encourages Cricket to be free, even as she smarts at the pain of seeing Zack, her first love, falling for her worst enemy.

But one night, when Cricket finally lets herself break all her own rules, she realizes she may have ruined her carefully constructed future with one impulsive decision. Cricket must dig deep to fight for her future, discovering that success isn't just about reaching goals, but also about listening to what she's been trying to ignore-her own heart.

My Thoughts:

Rating: 4 Stars !!!

I got this book from the author, free of cost, in exchange of an honest review from my side.

Firstly I would like to thank the author for giving me this opportunity of reading and reviewing this book.

Well, first of all the main thing that I felt while reading this story was that 'this story line is new to me, even if the concept is not new', I mean the way the author used up the concept and made it twist and turn in a very different fashion than the regular contemporary reads felt really good to me and it's really remarkable given the fact that even though there are so many books out there based on this same concept, this book succeeded in attracting the attention of the readers and judging the reaction of my fellow reviewers I think that it's true, right?

Coming to the characters, I have a little complaint here and that is the author only made the readers focus on the main character when there were other characters too that could have had a little bit share of the fame. I liked Cricket very much and the most important fact is that is isn't naive like most of the other heroines.

The story progressed at the correct pace though the first few chapters were a bit slow moving but it happens in case of the sequels all the time because the readers get excited to know more of the characters as fast as possible LOL!!! The indecisive attitude of Cricket was a great experience for me because our concerns are similar and it gave me goosebumps sometimes too when she was about to make some difficult decisions and man, I couldn't guess a scene here and everything was either a surprise or a shock to me which felt really good and fresh.

Over all a great read that I think everyone should definitely read. Enjoy !!!

About "Satarupa"

I'm from Calcutta, India (the kingdom of sweets). I'm is a final year college student struggling to get Bachelor of finance honors degree. I love books more than anything and like to hang out with friends, watch horror and action movies and I'm madly in love with vampires and warlocks. Other times you’ll find me with a worn out calculator punching the numbers and making accounts and ledgers (study stuff). In leisure time I sit with a book or my e-reader leaving the known world behind and losing her in the new worlds which the author’s create. I like to write down my thoughts and ideas regarding a story sometimes but never completed it but I'm planning to do so in future and will like to give a chance to my childhood dream of being a paranormal genre writer."
