A divine comedy!

Nanami Momozono is alone and homeless after her dad skips town to evade his gambling debts and the debt collectors kick her out of her apartment. So when a man she's just saved from a dog offers her his home, she jumps at the opportunity. But it turns out that his place is a shrine, and Nanami has unwillingly taken over his job as a local deity!

Nanami has all kinds of new responsabilities she doesn't understand, dangers she's unaware of, and a cranky ex-familiar who's... actually pretty hot. What's a new-fledged godling to do?

Reads R to L (Japanese Style).

For T audiences.

My Thoughts
A love that defies time itself.

This series is just AMAZING! The humor in this story always makes me laugh and never fails to lighten my mood. The romance is sweet and perfectly paced. I also really liked the mythology and time travel aspects of this story. Very well thought out! We are given a few clues here and there, but only enough to wet my appetite before the final reveal.

Nanami is a strong heroine which is really nice to see in a shoujo manga. I like that throughout the series Nanami gets to save the day and Tomoe even if things don't go as smoothly as they should. She is definitely no damsel in distress, but she isn't perfect either. She makes plenty of mistakes (some hilarious!), but what I admire about her is that she never gives up. Nanami has plenty of chances to just leave the shrine and do her own thing leaving the inhabitants to take care of their own problems, but she doesn't. She sticks by her friends and does whats right even when its not the easiest choice.

Tomoe is a bit gruff and does his best to put Nanami off in the begining, but underneath that he really does care about Nanami and the shrine. He has been through a lot in the past and had his share of heartache, but with Nanami's help he is begining to open up a lot more, slowly, but surly.

The romance is so sweet and not rushed at all. The characters actually start off hating each other, but given time they slowly become friends and learn to care for one another. Which really shows through in how much they try to help one another.

This is an amazing story with plenty of humor and a dose or romance. I highly recommend this to fans of Shoujo Manga!

  1. I love this manga, too :D Nanami does annoy me a bit since her many of her mistakes are caused by her not listening to Tomoe, but I also agree with you, I love that Nanami often gets to save the day and I admire her ability to stick with her friends even when the going gets tough.

And oh my gosh, the great imagination that the mangaka has makes me so jealous. All the different creatures, personalities, backstories. Just... Gah!

Amazing review, Katie! I really want to review this series, but I'm waiting for it to finish up first... Which might not happen very soon since this manga has a story that could practically go on for eternity :P

    1. Wow, I've never heard of this one before. It sounds great. I haven't found a good shoujo for awhile. What's the rating on it?
