My Thoughts
The heroine Uru decides to try working and living on her own after her mother remarries. Fortunately or unfortunately the cafe she is looking to work at is run by the two unlikeliest pair. One Ichirou is a somewhat lazy waiter who for some weird reason falls asleep in the strangest places and can only be woken up by putting a piece of candy in his mouth. The other is Shindou who doesn't have the best personality, but is an amazing pastry chef. Grudgingly Shindou gives Uru a job because they need the help, but because of her klutziness she isn't the best waitress. Her bubbly personality and willingness to help though makes her lots of friends and happy customers.
This was a fun and sweet read that I really enjoyed. The characters all have crazy and interesting personalities and I couldn't get enough of them. Uru is so much fun to read about and although its still early I think my favorite for a love interest is definitely Shindou he can be a bit gruff, but he has moments of sweetness too even though he doesn't like to show it as much.
For a sweet and heartwarming story of a young girl trying to make it on her own look no further than Happy Cafe!
What manga are you reading?
So glad I am finding other people reviewing manga! Will def have to add this to my list of titles to check out!
ReplyDeleteThe synopsis makes this sound like a typical shoujo manga though much as I love shoujo, I'm laying low on the genre after reading some whose endings disappointed me. I'm glad that this has depth too though. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI loved this manga! And you're right - it's ridiculously cute, but it goes pretty deeply as well (basically my requirements for a good manga!). Have you read Skip Beat or Love so Life? I think you'd really like them judging by this!
