Today I am excited to be talking to Naomi the main character of "In the Shadow of the Moonlight: The Awakening".
Synopsis:
Naomi Roberts finally receives a scholarship for a semester abroad in Maine. When Naomi’s grandmother suddenly claims that Naomi will soon be transformed into a panther, like her great grandmother Romina, Naomi believes it is a final and desperate attempt to keep her from departing to the USA.
Having arrived in Maine, Naomi enjoys her student life with new friends and her first love, Roman. Even though she feels magically drawn to a mysterious clearing in the woods, believes she is being watched and begins to sleepwalk, she does not remember the prophecy of her grandmother. Until her very first transformation. And - Naomi is not alone, which not only exposes her to mortal danger, but also Roman.
1. What was it like your first day at school in Maine?
It was a really strange feeling. I was not used to speak in English and was very excited how things will go and if I will make friends quickly or if I will feel lonely without my family and friends. It was great to meet Alice in the examination.
2. What was it like the first time you became a panther?
I was shocked and afraid. I had no control over my body and I am used to have always the control over it. It was so strange to be in this new body and it was very hard to discover that I had to learn walking again. I could not believe that the fairy tale story is true and I am like my grandmas mom.
3. Are there any parts about turning into a panther that you particularly hate or enjoy?
One thing is that you can hear pretty good, that you feel like home in the woods, without being afraid of the darkness and of course that you can run fast and climb on trees. It's fun. The nights in the woods are beautiful. The moonlight, the silence, the smell. The bad thing is that I am forced to shift into a panther without chance to protract it. I am not happy about it but I have to live with it. Imagine to shift into a panther in the city hall or the hospital. I am sure that I would not survive this. I have to be very careful.
4. Are you a morning person?
I am used to do sports in the morning, before it is too hot. It is great to start the day being outside and smell the new and fresh day. But as well I love to go out and sometimes I keep sleeping in bed. The woods will be there later as well ;-)
5. What made you decide to study in Maine?
If I am answering seriously Maine was my last choice to study abroad and my last hope as well. I would have preferred Hawaii as I was interested in water sport.
6. Do you have a close with your grandmother?
Absolutely. I love her very much. And after all, she is the only person to talk about what happen to me.
7. When did you first get interested in sports?
Like a kid I always jumped around. Playing soccer with the boys in the street was great fun for me and I forgot sometimes lunch time. My mom worried about that I never will be a real lady, maybe she is right.
8. Do you ever miss your father?
I missed a big family. Sisters, brothers, aunts … I often asked myself how it will be having a father. Other fathers played with their kids, made BBQs and taught riding a bike. Yes I would have loved to have a father. But I am lucky to have my granny and my mom. They always are there for me.
9. When did you first realize that you were in love with Roman?
This is difficult to say. After our first encounter on the stairway I felt attracted by him due to his smile and after the second meeting at the Italian restaurant I felt something I never felt before in my live. But was that love? I suppose I was lost after our first real date.
10. How did you cope the first time you transformed?
I was shocked and frightened. I had no idea what to do or why this happened to me. When I left Roman alone to go to the clearing I felt lonely and scared. After meeting Kai all went a little bit easier, but I am still working in accept the new situation.
