Myths and fairy tales come to life before Kay’s eyes, bringing her closer to the ultimate cure if she can stay alive long enough to get there. And if the cancer doesn’t kill her before she finds the cure the secrets her mother has hidden from her may be the beginning of the end.

My Thoughts

A thrilling adventure that will make you believe in miracles.

Kay was told that she will die before she reaches her eighteenth birthday, but her mother is determined to save her. When they move out of Ahseville, NC to try a new set of cancer specialists Kay finds something that may be able to help her. What she finds in the woods outside of Asheville and a mysterious boy named
Ryan may prove to be her one chance at seeing her eighteenth birthday. However the journey is not over yet and her mother has secrets of her own that will change her world forever.

The imagery was breathtaking and imaginative. I had no trouble getting lost in this intense and exciting new story. It was an excellent coming of age story because Kay is still discovering herself and who she truly is.
While on her journey she will discover things about her life that she never would have dreamed and she will learn that not all things are what they seem.

The romance was sweet and I really wasn’t sure which character I liked best.

I loved the mystery and suspense in this story because it kept me guessing until the very end and it was written very well without giving too much away, but leaving hints along the way.

Kay was a fun character to get to know. She was easy to relate to and I believe many kids her age can identify with some of the things she was feeling, even though some of her experiences are a little more bizarre than normal. I also enjoyed seeing her grow as a character throughout the story.

Ryan was definitely a mysterious and yet intriguing character. I’m sure every reader will love getting to know more about him like I did.

This was an exciting story filled with mystery and romance that you will want to read again and again.
